The Numbers Say it All

Portsmouth, New Hampshire -- The hottest day of the season thus far occured just six days after the summer solstice. Upper 90s. This was the high temperature of the day. I was hoping the sign read 97° because the official temperature from Portsmouth was 97° also. I don't base the temperatures on readings from signs and things like that. I look on Weather Underground ([link]) and I look at the archive temperatures at the weather stations closest to where I was. It was 97° for 3 straight hours in Portsmouth.
